Marek Kominek
Restaurant 420 is located in a historic house near the Red Fox right on Old Town Square in Prague, opposite the famous astronomical clock. The atmosphere is mainly determined by the glass ceiling, which majestically spans the entire space. During the day, the restaurant is flooded with light and looks airy and monumental, while in the evening it comes alive with a magical play of lights - stars shine above the heads of guests and glowing swallows float among them. This detail creates a unique backdrop that gives the visit a unique dimension.
There is a grocery store in the Gothic cellar. They bake fresh pastries here daily and make their own sausages.
The restaurant's cuisine is based on recipes from Austria-Hungary, which are transformed into a modern form with a slight dose of audacity and creativity. It also draws inspiration from childhood memories and is not afraid to combine ingredients that few people would combine in classic cuisine. The courage to experiment and the desire to surprise are the basic principles of the entire concept.
The restaurant's uniqueness is also underlined by the wow effect of the interior, which is impressive at first glance. The comprehensive experience also includes a carefully compiled wine list, original cocktails and excellently treated draft tank beer.
Chef Marek Kominek, a prominent figure in young Czech gastronomy, is behind the kitchen. He trained in Bohumín and gained his first experience in the smaller boutique hotel Jan Maria, where he received thorough practice. He then continued to the Koras restaurant, completed several internships abroad and then headed to Prague. At the Terasa U Zlaté studně restaurant, he had the opportunity to work under the leadership of Pavel Sapík and later collaborated with Radek Kašpárek, who shaped him professionally and took him to a new level.
Marek Kominek places particular emphasis on the quality of ingredients. He claims that good food cannot be prepared from bad ingredients, which is why he never skimps on their selection. His cuisine is based on a combination of honest craftsmanship, creativity and courage. He is not afraid to take risks, learns from mistakes and considers them an important part of professional growth.
His goal is to make food fun for guests and to make them see a story behind each dish. He pays attention to textures, playfulness and fun – not only for guests, but also for his colleagues in the kitchen, whom he wants to inspire and motivate. His motto is simple: never stop learning and constantly move forward.
Today, 420 is a restaurant that combines the elegance of a historic space with modern creativity and the signature of chef Marek Kominek. The result is a gastronomic experience that is unforgettable.
