Asian Temple

Petr Matějů
Just a few steps from the bustling Pařížská Street is the Asian Temple restaurant, which has been one of the most distinctive fusion restaurants in Prague for more than a decade. It offers guests a culinary journey across Asia - from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and China to India and Bali. In a single evening, you can touch different corners of the continent and taste the best it has to offer.
The spacious restaurant is divided into four parts and two bars. In one part, there is an original Teppanyaki show grill, in another, fresh sushi, fragrant wok specialties or dishes from the Indian Tandoor oven are served. The atmosphere is completed by marine aquariums full of life, samurai armor, statues and authentic porcelain - details that create the feeling that you are in the very heart of Asia.
Restaurant manager Nikola Godoy explains: “Our philosophy is to bring guests the true flavors of Asia while constantly coming up with new ideas and inspiration. Every detail is important to us – from the service to the cuisine. And that’s why people like to come back to us.”
Behind the kitchen is chef Petr Matějů, who has been involved in gastronomy since he was a child. He was introduced to cooking by his mother and grandmother, from whom he received his first recipes and inspiration. After completing his apprenticeship at the Prague U Krbu cooking school, he gained experience at the Hilton Hotel under the leadership of Roman Paulus and later at the Kempinski Hotel under Mark Fichtner. Ari Munandar brought him to Asian Temple, who introduced him to the secrets of Asian cuisine. He spent seven years at this establishment, then expanded his horizons at the La Casa Argentina restaurant, but eventually returned – to Asian gastronomy, which is his greatest passion.
Petr Matějů says that his goal is to combine authentic recipes with his own signature and an emphasis on the harmony of flavors. “I want our guests to feel like they’re traveling through Asia, but at the same time, they can experience the honesty and joy of cooking in every bite,” he adds.
In October 2025, Asian Temple celebrated its tenth anniversary—proof that a love of Asian cuisine, creativity, and honest work can create a place where guests love to return.
