For more than ten years, Bruxx Restaurant has been showing that Belgian cuisine is much more than just fries and beer – although the fries here are among the best in Prague. Guests are attracted here by a combination of tradition, honesty and quality: fresh mussels from the Dutch region of Jerseke imported several times a week, fries fried twice in beef tallow, select meat, fish from European seas and Liege waffles made from their own yeast dough.
The menu combines Belgian and French flavors with respect for ingredients and imagination. Guests return again and again for mussels in white wine, while grilled Pompadour shrimps and honest onion soup are also legendary. The kitchen is run by co-owner Jan Pípal and chef Oldřich Matoušek – a well-coordinated duo who can create an unforgettable experience from simple ingredients.
But Bruxx is also a temple to beer. Guests can choose from more than seventy types of Belgian bottled beers, eight draft specials and a regularly changing offer from microbreweries from the Czech Republic. The world of Belgian beers is accompanied by a beer sommelier who can turn the tasting into a real experience.
The sweet spot is usually the famous waffles, which are an integral part of Bruxx, or the original desserts of pastry chef Daniela Hirschová. However, it is best to indulge in both and enjoy the harmony of flavors until the last bite.
Chef Oldřich Matoušek got into cooking more by chance - after elementary school he enrolled in a culinary school and the InterContinental hotel, where his career also began. He spent twelve years in this prestigious environment, including at the Zlatá Praha restaurant, where he gained a solid foundation in top gastronomy. He gained further experience during internships in Brussels and Germany, from where he brought inspiration and discipline.
Today, in his kitchen, he emphasizes the quality of ingredients, precision and creativity. He doesn't like to waste and tries to use up every last bit. He is most happy when he comes up with a new dish at home in the evening and can test it in the kitchen the next day. His greatest reward is a satisfied guest who leaves with the feeling of an exceptional experience.
Bruxx is more than a restaurant – it is a place where Belgian tradition meets Prague gastronomy and where every course, glass and bite tells its own story.
