Café Savoy

Martin Čáslavka
Café Savoy is an iconic restaurant and café at the foot of Petřín Hill, part of the Ambiente group. It is located on the ground floor of an Art Nouveau building and boasts a listed neo-Renaissance ceiling, massive chandeliers and high windows that create an unmistakable atmosphere. It is a place that is bustling from morning to night and is one of the most popular establishments in Prague.
The concept of the café is based on Viennese and Parisian traditions. The kitchen prepares classic Czech and French dishes, but with an emphasis on modern standards and precise execution. A typical example is the Viennese schnitzel with potato salad, which is an icon at Café Savoy - each piece is battered and fried in butter just before serving. The kitchen also cooperates with the renowned Myšák pastry shop, which produces desserts and fresh pastries that smell throughout the café.
Savoy is particularly popular for its breakfasts, which guests can enjoy until 4 p.m. on weekends. It also offers a weekly menu with modern take on classics and a wide selection of vegetarian dishes. In addition to the restaurant, there is also a counter where you can buy your favorite pastries, ice cream or takeaway food. An important part of the experience is the wine list with carefully selected wines from all over Europe.
Chef Martin Čáslavka is behind the kitchen. He got into cooking more by accident - he originally wanted to study IT, but in the end, fate led him to cooking. He trained in Žamberek and gained the most experience at the Vista Hotel in Lower Moravia under the leadership of Petr Svoren. His work experience in Scotland was also key, where he learned the importance of fresh ingredients and a family atmosphere in a small hotel by the sea.
At Café Savoy, Martin Čáslavka focuses on tradition and honesty. He wants to show guests that even classic Austro-Hungarian and French cuisine can be contemporary, light and elegantly presented. Together with his team, he is creating a restaurant that has been a symbol of Prague gastronomy for two decades.
