A small baroque house at the end of Lodecká Street seems like an apparition among the tall buildings. The cozy Grand Cru restaurant with a large winter garden, private wine bar and modern kitchen is connected by a paved courtyard that will transport you to the atmosphere of a French village during dinner in the summer.
Chef Svatopluk Hemmer fully exploits the potential of this exceptional place. Thanks to his sensitive approach, exceptional taste talent and courage to experiment with unconventional combinations, the restaurant regularly appears in the prestigious Michelin guide and has also received awards in the form of two Golden Lions in the gastronomic guide Best Restaurants.
Guests can choose from the à la carte menu and two carefully composed tasting menus. Svatopluk's cuisine focuses primarily on local seasonality, but it also includes exotic ingredients that take the experience further.
Grand Cru is a true paradise for wine lovers. The menu includes wines from major world regions, including rare and archive vintages, and the restaurant historically boasts the widest collection of wines from Burgundy and Bordeaux. Thanks to the technology used, guests can enjoy even the rarest wines by the glass. Great emphasis is placed on the perfect pairing of food and wine - each course is assigned a glass that will further enhance its taste.
Grand Cru has built a strong bond with its local clientele and regularly organizes themed evenings for them - meetings with winemakers, evenings with live music or guest chefs. Seasonal menus add variety and relevance to the menu - from the January lobster menu to the autumn venison and truffle specialties that adorn the menu from October to December.
The exceptional atmosphere is not only due to the location and the kitchen, but also to the restaurant team. The operator Libor Pavlíček has assembled a team of people for whom gastronomy is not only work, but also a passion. Thanks to this, the atmosphere is friendly, not tense. Guests are not just customers here – they become part of a community where they know what they like and where they like to return.
Chef Svatopluk Hemmer comes from a family that had nothing to do with gastronomy, and his mother always cooked best at home. He only gained a true passion for cooking during his time at the Four Seasons Hotel in Prague, where he worked alongside Andrea Accordi. This experience set him on a path that led him to Grand Cru.
With each course, Svatopluk Hemmer wants to show his guests that food can be more than just a simple satiety – it is a story, an emotion and a memory. His motto is simple: respect for the raw material, joy in creation and an unforgettable experience for the guest.
