In the heart of České Budějovice is the cozy and elegant restaurant La Vié, which brings its guests an experience of world gastronomy. It specializes in multi-course tasting menus, the aim of which is not only to offer excellent food, but above all to create an unforgettable gastronomic experience for guests.
Behind the establishment of the company are a pair of friends - chef Michal Gožo and sommelier Pavol Kuchar. Both met in gastronomy and soon discovered that they shared the same vision, a passion for quality ingredients, wine and, above all, the joy of food.
The idea of owning your own restaurant became a natural step - thus La Vié was born, a place where modern cuisine meets a friendly atmosphere.
“Our main domain is the tasting menu, in which we pay attention to the balance and expressiveness of flavors. We believe that it is the appetizers and desserts that remain in the guests’ memory the longest. We want people to feel at home with us – to open a bottle of wine, enjoy the food and not rush anywhere,” explains Michal Gožo. The name La Vié means “life” and that is exactly the message of the restaurant – the joy of life through delicious food, pleasant service and a family atmosphere.
The kitchen of La Vié is run by Michal Gožo, for whom the path to the craft was natural since childhood. He grew up in a children’s home, where he learned to cook with others, and it was there that his love for gastronomy was born. He studied to be a chef-waiter in Tábor and gained his first experience at the Černá perla restaurant, where he learned independence and responsibility. He got his first big opportunity as a chef at the u Anděl restaurant.
Further professional steps took him to hotel kitchens, where he first met the National Team of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of the AKC ČR. In 2018, he came in 3rd place in the prestigious Global Chef Challenge competition, which was a major motivation for him.
He finally settled in České Budějovice, where he opened his own tasting restaurant La Vié together with Pavol Kuchar. Today, he can fully develop his culinary creativity, passion for quality ingredients and wine, and treat guests to an authentic gastronomic experience.
