Miminoo

Martin Chalupa
In the middle of the picturesque Mahler Gardens, which form a natural bridge between Vinohrady and Žižkov, is the Miminoo restaurant - a garden establishment that has been bringing guests a combination of gastronomy, relaxation and an exceptional atmosphere for twelve years. It is an integral part of the Žižkov Tower complex and offers experiences that appeal to all the senses.
The interior combines modern architecture with cozy elements - wood, metal and large glass surfaces create harmony between the space and the surrounding nature. A covered pergola is now available, expanding the capacity.
The menu is inspired by traditional Czech, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and changes twice a year according to seasonal ingredients.
In summer, the grill, pizza oven and garden full of oleanders, palms and olive trees come into play. Guests can enjoy seafood, homemade pasta or desserts under the open sky. The atmosphere is complemented by a stone bar with a crystal chandelier and display cases with wines from the Czech Republic and abroad. A visit can also be combined with cultural experiences – for example, an evening performance by the Kalich Theatre in the atrium under the tower.
In winter, the environment changes – a public ice rink is set up in the park and Miminoo offers hot drinks, mulled wine or bombardino. Thanks to this, the restaurant is a place that brings unique experiences all year round.
Chef Martin Chalupa comes from the Vysočina region, where he grew up surrounded by home cooking, a garden full of vegetables and animal husbandry. Since childhood, he has been inspired by his grandmother's and mother's honest recipes, and he mastered his first independent meal – a mushroom fry – at the age of nine.
After primary school, he decided to study at a culinary school and gradually gained experience in establishments such as Ristorante Toscana, Vittoria in Jihlava or Oblaca in Prague, where he learned from chef Tomáš Lachman.
He has been running the kitchen of the Miminoo restaurant for nine years. “It’s a dynamic concept – actually two restaurants in one. In the summer we focus on Mediterranean cuisine, in the winter the grill and the atmosphere of the ice rink take over,” says Martin. His cuisine is based on seasonality, modern technology and a constant search for new flavors.
He included photos of dishes that are among the most popular with guests and best capture the spirit of the restaurant – dishes that people like to return to.
