Piano Nobile

Piano Nobile

Jan Štěrba

The Piano Nobile restaurant is located in the Chateau Mcely castle hotel, surrounded by the St. George's Forest and a five-hectare English park. It is located in the representative halls of the former aristocratic residence of the Thurn-Taxis family and a popular part is the glazed Bellavista patio, which provides a year-round view of the surrounding nature.
The cuisine is inspired by the changing seasons and local traditions. Guests can enjoy an à la carte menu, tasting menu, themed events, tea parties or dishes respecting the Wreath of the Year philosophy that permeates the entire castle. The dishes are created mainly from ingredients from local suppliers, from the castle garden or its own smokehouse.
The menu also includes popular specialties inspired by the Thurn-Taxis family or recipes from Grandma Cusumano, mother of co-founder Jim Cusumano.
The Piano Nobile concept also includes a bar with signature cocktails prepared with ingredients from the castle garden, its own syrups and products from the MCELY BOUQUET collection. The restaurant's logo is decorated with the symbol of a fallow deer and an ostrich - a reminder of the castle's historical stories and at the same time a symbol of the connection of worldliness with local charm.
Chef Jan Štěrba was lucky that his family always cooked well and honestly. This awakened in him a love of food and the culinary craft from childhood. During his practice, he gained a lot of experience, but the most important values for him remain order, discipline and humility.
The Piano Nobile restaurant has been part of Chateau Mcely since its opening, i.e. for nineteen years. "The concept is very close to my heart and I want to continue developing such an exceptional hotel as Chateau Mcely is," says Jan Štěrba. His goal is to cook with love and diligence and to lead his team to never settle for average.
