Stůl Jana Punčocháře

Jan Punčochář
Jan Punčochář’s Table is a hidden gem in Prague’s Hanspaulka. Behind the inconspicuous doors of the historic pub u Matěj is a small fine dining restaurant that offers a unique chef’s table experience with just twelve seats. The interior, designed by architect Stanislav Fiala, is cozy, modern, and emphasizes the intimate atmosphere.
Guests watch the food being prepared directly in the open kitchen, and their comfort is taken care of by a small but well-coordinated team – a waiter, a sommelier, two chefs, and Jan Punčochář himself.
The menu here has no fixed rules, it reflects the seasonality and the team’s momentary inspiration. When making a reservation, guests simply inform them of their preferences or allergies, and then let themselves be surprised. The result is a harmonious combination of pure and unconventional flavors that draw from the highest quality ingredients from around the world. The concept is based on playfulness and freedom, but in a friendly, homely atmosphere.
Jan Punčochář started cooking as a little boy and his professional path led through prestigious internships in Michelin-starred restaurants, including Hangar 7 in Austria and Tim Raue in Berlin. In Switzerland, he worked as an assistant chef and after returning to Prague, he became the chef of the Le Terroir restaurant, where he received the Bib Gourmand award. This was followed by a stint at Grand Cru and in 2019 he opened his own restaurants U Matěje and Stůl Jana Punčocháře. In 2025, the Šnycl restaurant, focused on Viennese schnitzels, was added to his portfolio. Jan Punčocháře's Table is more than a restaurant - it is an experience based on trust between the guest and the chef. Every course is a small surprise, every detail is perfected. Jan Punčocháře's goal is for guests to leave satisfied, inspired and with the feeling that they spent an exceptional evening that they will remember for a long time.
